Tips for a Quick Home Exchange Getaway
Sometimes, you just need to get away. Thankfully, Home Exchange isn’t just for long vacations! Read on to discover our tips for finding a perfect, easy mini-escape.
Refine your search
Use the Exchange Type filter to search for Last Minute and Weekend exchanges. You can either search for a specific location or leave your destination blank and search only by Exchange Type. You can also combine search filters – Last Minute Exchange by the beach? No problem! Weekend getaway with great hiking nearby? Coming right up!
Leave the guidebooks at home
We fully advocate seeing the local attractions when you’re planning a longer vacation, but you’re not going to be able to pack it all in on a quick trip (and why would you want to?) Instead, see where the weekend takes you. You might find yourself wandering into a great museum, but there’s nothing wrong with doing, well, nothing at all.
By minimizing your travel time, you’ll maximize your vacation time. If you do decide to travel a longer distance to your weekend getaway, try to take a red-eye flight if one is available. That way, you can sleep on the plane and still arrive with a full day ahead of you.
We’re the first ones to admit that we’re pretty addicted to our technology, and it can be hard to resist the urge to check our email every few minutes. When you’re on a short trip though, it’s all about maximizing your vacation time. Try turning off your phone and leaving your laptop at home. If you’re worried that your friends will think you’ve fallen off the planet, you can easily set up a vacation reply on most email carriers that will let your correspondents know when you’ll be answering messages.
Take a long walk, treat yourself to a great dinner, read that book you haven’t had time for, and relish your getaway. Make it count – it’ll be Monday before you know it!
